Minimally Invasive Surgery Workshop

$3,850.00

Targeted Training for Rural, Remote & Early Career Surgeons

15-17 April 2026, Epworth Freemason Hospital, Melbourne

Are you a gynaecologist with a basic understanding of laparoscopic techniques looking for an opportunity to up-skill and gain confidence with suturing, knot tying and approaches to more difficult cases? We are offering a small course with only 6 places to ensure you get maximum opportunity for hands on learning and individualised feedback to achieve your learning goals. The first day will focus on simulation, while the rest of the workshop will focus on live operating and the opportunity for participants to assist in surgical cases.

After completing the course we would expect you to achieve the following:

  • Feel confident with laparoscopic suturing and intra-corporeal knot tying

  • Feel confident in approaching a basic hysterectomy, cystectomy or endometriosis resection and know how to select correct energy sources

  • Understand importance of teamwork and correct theatre setup in laparoscopic surgery

Develop confidence in:

  • Approaches to surgery where suturing will be especially difficult – eg use robot, extracorporeal knots

  • How to navigate adherent bladder and adhesions

  • Tissue extraction methods

RANZCOG CPD hours: This activity is approved for 27.50 CPD hours
